Certificate Policy
What a certificate attests to, how long it lasts, how it is verified, and when it can be suspended or revoked.
Version 1.1 · Effective 7 October 2026
A certificate is a claim made to strangers, to a parent deciding who their child trains with. This policy sets out precisely what the claim covers, so nobody has to guess.
1What a certificate attests to
My Drona issues one certificate per course. It attests that the named person completed the course’s lessons and passed its tests on the dates shown:
- the holder completed every module of the named course, at the version stated on the certificate;
- in each module the holder passed a multiple-choice test with at least 80%.
It is evidence of training completed and tested on a date, not an identity check, not a background check, not a safeguarding clearance, and not a prediction of future conduct. Academies, employers and authorities must still carry out whatever verification the law requires of them.
2Validity
A certificate is valid for one year from its issue date. The expiry date is printed on it and returned by every verification check.
Validity is deliberately short. Standards move, and a claim made four years ago about someone’s judgement is not evidence about them today.
Every certificate carries the version of the course it was earned against. A later revision of the course does not shorten, invalidate or downgrade a certificate already issued, it applies at renewal.
3Renewal
Renewal means completing the course again as it stands then. It is not a formality. We remind you at sixty, thirty and seven days before expiry.
An expired certificate shows as expired on public verification. It is not revoked and carries no adverse implication: it means the holder has not renewed it, nothing more. You can renew after expiry; the new certificate runs a year from its own issue date.
4Verification
Every certificate has a unique number and an unguessable public link, reachable by QR code. Anyone can check it without an account, for free, at mydrona.ai/verify.
A check returns the holder’s status and nothing more than:
- whether the certificate is active, expired, suspended or revoked;
- the course, its version, and the issue and expiry dates;
- the holder’s first name and last initial, sport, city and age groups coached.
Verification never discloses an email address, a phone number, a date of birth, test scores, or which modules took more than one attempt.
5Suspension and revocation
These are different, and the difference is visible to anyone checking.
Suspension
Reversible, and used while a serious concern is being investigated. A suspended certificate shows as suspended and should not be relied on until the matter resolves.
Revocation
Permanent, and used where the certificate should never have stood. Grounds include:
- impersonation, or false information given to obtain it;
- cheating on a test, another person, a script or an AI system answering on the holder’s behalf;
- a finding by a court, tribunal, sports body or statutory authority that makes the certificate misleading to the public;
- a material error by us in issuing it.
A revoked certificate shows as revoked permanently. We do not delete it, because a certificate that quietly disappears is worse than one that plainly says it was withdrawn.
6Process, appeal and reporting
Before suspending or revoking we tell the holder what we have and give them a reasonable chance to respond, unless the risk of harm makes immediate action necessary. Decisions are recorded in an append-only audit log.
A holder may appeal within thirty days by writing to support@mydrona.ai. Appeals are decided by someone not involved in the original decision.
To report a certificate you believe is being misused or misrepresented, write to support@mydrona.ai with the certificate number.
If a child is at immediate risk, contact the police on 112 or Childline on 1098 first. My Drona is a certification body, not an emergency service and not a reporting authority.
7Certificate records
Certificate records are retained permanently, including after an account closes, under the name shown at issue. A certificate that cannot be checked a year later would not be worth issuing. See the Privacy Policy for how this sits alongside your right to erasure.
